Bokeh examples

I have a EF 50mm F1.8 II lens for my Canon 400D. I just love that (normal) bokeh.
Today, I saw at Newslaunches, this article about some bokeh filter. I never had saw that before! There where filters in shape of star, hearts and spirals (see pics above).

I started thinking and I decided imediatly to make my own bokeh filter!

I just draw a circle using the lens cap in an old Repsol card : )

With help of an 1€ coin I draw a circle, made an star, e cut it!
I placed my home made filter in front of the lens (like a regular filter).

I didn’t have the opportunity to test it more. I just went to my street and took a photo (a live in a small village, so don’t expect that many lights!!)

I didn’t used any tripod, so the image is a little blurred!

Tip: This was my first attempt to make a filter. I’m guessing that higher the distance between the filter and glass more accurate will be lights (at photo) to the shape of the filter.

    awesome. i looked around and couldn’t beleive anyone else but me had thought of using a lens cap or something plastic, other than the paper ones. it was nice to see how you made yours. great job!

    I made this filter from scratch.
    I’ve never had seen other homemade filters before.

    My, may not have the best result, but it is the best to carry.

    Achas que me podes dar umas ajudinhas?Trabalho a muito pouco tempo com fotografia e é mais um divertimento que outra coisa,mas talvez algo a apostar no futuro :)
    adquiri uma canon a pouco tempo,pois a minha maquina anterior avariou-se e dado o preço do arranjo preferi juntar e comprar uma melhor :)

    Com essa lente (EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6), a abertura máxima que consegues é f/3.5 o que é ‘pouco’ comparado com f/1.8 (EF 50mm f/1.8 II).

    O efeito ‘bokeh’ será menos perceptível nessa gama de abertura (f/3.5~f/5.6) comparado com uma lente que possibilite uma abertura maior/extrema. Contundo este ‘filtro’ também se aplica à tua lente.

    Procura no Google por “canon 18-55 bokeh” e vê exemplos.

    No futuro, se quiseres/conseguires, adquire uma lente EF 50mm F1.8 II.
    *Nova a partir dos 130€.
    *Usada (a minha foi comprada usada) a partir dos 85€. (Procura nos fóruns, exemplo: http://www.forumfotografia.net/ – já comprei algumas lentes aqui.)
